Cancellation & Refund Policy
A plain-language summary of when a canceled appointment is refunded, and when it isn't.

Effective Date: August 24, 2026
This page summarizes Waypoint Notaries' direct-customer cancellation and refund practices.
The full Terms of Service control if there is any conflict between this summary and the Terms.
Cancel Before Travel Begins
If you prepaid for an appointment and cancel before a Waypoint notary begins travel toward the appointment, the appointment is generally eligible for a full refund, provided no compensable service has already been performed.
The refund is processed as Waypoint completes the cancellation and closes out the job.
This means the refund may not be issued at the exact moment you press "Cancel."
Cancel After Travel Begins
Once a Waypoint notary has begun traveling toward your appointment, the appointment is no longer eligible for an automatic full refund.
Waypoint will review the appointment to determine what portion of the service was earned.
Travel or convenience charges agreed to in your accepted quote may remain due.
Unearned notarial-act charges or other unearned service amounts may be refunded as appropriate.
No-Sign or Partial Completion
Some appointments cannot be completed for reasons such as:
- signer identification problems;
- signer unwillingness;
- signer unavailability;
- document problems;
- lender or title-company instructions;
- facility-access problems;
- missing witnesses;
- partial completion; or
- other unusual circumstances.
These appointments require individual review.
Waypoint does not automatically assume that every unsuccessful appointment is either fully refundable or fully chargeable.
For remote online notarizations, a technology fee of up to $10 per online notarization session may remain chargeable even if the notarial act cannot be completed, including when the signer does not successfully complete the required identity-verification process, as permitted by Ohio law.
Waypoint-Initiated Cancellations
If Waypoint cancels your appointment before travel or other compensable service begins, any prepaid amount will be refunded in full.
If Waypoint cannot complete an appointment after service has begun because of a Waypoint operational issue, the appointment will be reviewed and an appropriate refund will be provided. Depending on the circumstances, that may include a full refund.
Refund Processing Time
Waypoint generally returns refunds through the original payment method.
Once Waypoint submits the refund, Square, your card issuer, or your financial institution may require additional processing time before the funds appear in your account.
A Note on Loan Documents
If your appointment is part of a mortgage refinance or similar loan secured by your primary residence, federal law may give you a separate right to cancel the loan itself within three business days of signing. That right, and any related notice, is administered by your lender or title company through your loan paperwork — it is a different right on a different transaction than the notary-appointment cancellation described above, and Waypoint does not process it.
B2B and Commercial Customers
This summary applies primarily to direct-customer appointments.
Title companies, lenders, law firms, facilities, signing services, and other organizations may have separate cancellation, invoicing, or commercial terms.
